ABOUT ELSA

ELSA (The European Law Students’ Association) is an international, independent, non-political and non-profit organization. It was established to bring together young law students at events that will allow them to develop personally, realize themselves and gain new experiences in the field of law. ELSA is made up of law students and young lawyers from all over Europe who are interested in academic and personal growth.

ELSA offers law students a unique opportunity and space to acquire new skills and improve existing ones. It is a unique grouping created for interaction between students, educators and professionals in the field of law and the law of related disciplines – all over Europe!

ELSA was founded in 1981 by students from Hungary, Germany, Poland and Austria. Its membership is still growing, and today ELSA, with operations at almost 400 faculties in 41 countries, bringing together around 60,000 students and young lawyers across Europe, is the largest independent association of law students in the world!

ELSA currently has members in Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, Ukraine and the UK.

In the Czech Republic, ELSA operates at the faculties of law in Brno, Olomouc, Pilsen and Prague.

ELSA also works with other student organizations in North America, with ALSA in Japan, ALSA in Australia, ALSA in South Africa and AEJCI in Côte d’Ivoire.
