Squire Patton Boggs

Squire Patton Boggs (ELSA Brno partner since 2007) was founded in Prague in 1991 and has since represented Czech and international clients in major and complex regulatory, financial, real estate and commercial transactions and legal matters in Central and Eastern Europe. Squire Patton Boggs maintains an extensive and diverse legal practice that combines its comprehensive international experience with the necessary local knowledge. She is particularly known for her prominent arbitration and litigation practice.

The merger with the world-renowned lobbying firm Patton Boggs has enabled it to incorporate a service known as commercial advocacy, which is quite unique among law firms. Since 2014, the Czech market has been trying to vehemently break the negative phenomenon of lobbying and apply the American model of commercial diplomacy and global public relations, consisting of analytical and diplomatic expertise and representation before the legislative and executive branches of government.

Another non-traditional practice is developed by the People and Technology team, which provides comprehensive advice in the field of information technology, telecommunications and data protection law with an overlap into employment law. By combining these expertise, our firm is responding to the growing demands of technology companies, where technology and innovation need to be addressed in a much broader context, and has built a unique brand in the market.

Innovation and technology are key to the prosperity of companies and consulting in this area is also rapidly evolving. Squire is not lagging behind. In spring 2018, the firm initiated the creation of the Blockchain Connect Czech Alliance, the first association that systematically dedicated itself to promoting blockchain in the Czech Republic. Among its founding partners, SPB invited technology firm IBM, consulting company PwC CR and blockchain project accelerator Adel. The ambition of the association is to educate companies and government representatives, to open a discussion on the legislative framework of use in the Czech Republic, to promote the introduction of blockchain technology and to achieve its real use, as well as the digitalization of the whole society.

Our lawyers have the opportunity to actively participate in international projects that take place year-round in our network offices, and thus travel to various destinations within our network.
Our firm is regularly ranked in prestigious independent ranking publications such as Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500 and IFLR. It is also among the preferred advisers in the Czech ranking announced annually as part of the Law Firm of the Year project.

Squire Patton Boggs Prague’s connection to a global platform of 44 offices in 20 countries opens up enormous opportunities for clients and responds dynamically to their growing needs. In countries where it does not have its own offices, it has established a number of alliances and has long-standing relationships with established counsel in those markets.
