ELSA Job Fair 2020 Online

From 18 to 20 November, the traditional ELSA Job Fair took place. This year, for the first time, it was moved to an online platform due to epidemiological reasons. The local groups ELSA Pilsen and ELSA Brno participated in its organization in cooperation with ELSA Czech Republic and ELSA Career.

As every year, we were able to enjoy the participation of both international and purely Czech law firms. The participants of the fair still have the opportunity to get a catalog with an overview of individual entities, in which a lot of interesting information about individual offices can be found, or even the way to apply for a job at certain entities is described there. On Wednesday, the fair started with a series of workshops prepared for students by individual law firm representatives. During the workshops, students had the opportunity to directly ask the experts. The selection of topics was extensive, from a case study on transactions, through the history of cybercrime, to the news in the field of legal tech.

The next day, the fair continued with moderated TALKS discussions. This year’s moderator was Petr Bureš, who asked individual representatives of law firms questions about the functioning of their firm, conditions for the admission of students, and many other topics. Students themselves could be part of the discussion and ask questions that interested them about the subjects.

The fair culminated on Friday with another series of workshops from law firm representatives. The program of this day included workshops about topics such as a normal day in a law firm, how to handle an interview, or how a resume should look.

Despite the need to move the ELSA Job fair from university buildings to the online environment, we believe that it was very beneficial for all participants and students had the opportunity to find out more about their dream jobs. We would like to thank all our partners, participating law firms, and all students who arrived at the event. We hope that all participants enjoyed the fair and that next time we will be able to organize it in the usual way again.
