Students from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University visited the Office of the Public Defender of Rights on 25th November 2015. This visit was within ELSA DAY's framework, this year's theme was concentrated on Gender equality.

At first, Mgr. Polák explained to the participants what the theme of the lecture would be and after that, he gave word to his colleague from the Department of Equal Treatment, Mgr. Lucie Obrovská, Ph.D.

In continuance with this year ELSA DAY's theme, the whole lecture was in the spirit of „Equal reward system – Law vs. Practice“. Students had a chance to get an insight not only into the jurisdiction of the office but also into the issues concerning discrimination. Students have actively participated in debate focusing on the interpretation and definition of discrimination.

In the end of the whole visit, the students were familiarized with cases from practice, also including the process used by the ombudsman to resolve them. Some of the cases were well known, such as the case when a teacher forbade two Muslim students of hers from wearing hijab at school.
