The Visit of Brno City Municipality
On March 18th 2015 ELSA Brno with 20 law students from the Masaryk University went to visit Brno city Municipality as a part of the project Institutional Visits. The visit started at 10 a.m. and our guide were employees of the municipality, Mr. Jakub Rybář DiS. and Mrs. Ing. Iveta Štarhová.
First, we were supposed to visit the City Hall, unfortunately, another event was being held there at the same time, so the visit was not possible. Thus we went to the room of Urban Centre where our guides prepared very interesting presentation for us, which included local legends (have you heard the one about the city's dragon that is actually not a dragon but a female alligator?).
After that, we were told about personnel structure of the Municipality, its parts and departments that ensures peaceful and stable functioning of the city. Moreover, we had a great opportunity to learn about economic situation of the city. The employees told us about several projects the Municipality was financing and explained how the Municipality chooses projects and investors.
The most interesting part was a presentation of a new project which aims to demonstrate the ongoing transformation of the city and to show people city´s areas that are supported by local investments. The aim of the project is to make Brno a better place to live and at the same time to economically develop it.

At the end, based on our questions we learned about a working day of a Municipality's employee or about disagreements between co-workers.

The evaluation after visiting the Municipality revealed that most of the participants were satisfied with speakers and the visit in general. The most appreciated parts were a warm approach of the speakers and interesting facts from city’s history as well as from present days.
