Institutional Study Visit to Vienna

We visited the capital of Austria, Vienna on 12.-14. December 2014 as a part of Institutional Study Visit. During these three days we had an honor to visit beautiful Christmas Vienna, Headquarters of OSN, and Austrian Parliament or to take a look, at least from the outside, on the Schönbrunn palace with its gorgeous gardens.

We started the first day with the journey to Vienna. We arrived before lunch together with a small group of students from Olomouc to the capital of Austria. First, we visited Christmas markets near Vienna´s Town hall. Then our task was to find our hostel named Wombat´s where we, after never ending searching, arrived and met the rest of the students from Prague, Vienna and Berlin. Together we set off to the OSN. Vienna´s OSN Headquarters impressed us not only with its architecture but also with the fact that it is a residence to countless organizations and programs of OSN. As expected, we ended the day on Christmas markets with traditional glühwein or apfelunsch.

Next day a visit to gardens in Schönbrunn was on programme, which was used as a summer residence of Austrian emperors. Thanks to favourable weather it was an amazing experience. We could not miss trying out punsch in here, of course. In the afternoon, a visit to the Austrian Parliament awaited us.

We had no plans for the last day so some of us went to take a tour around Vienna and the rest decided to take a look at Vienna´s Prater – amusement park with the most known symbol of Vienna which is a ferris wheel  accompanied by a lot of other attractions.

While spending our time in Vienna no one got lost, fortunately, so about 2 p.m. we all met at the Stadion station, got to the bus and parted with Vienna.
